Today, I shall be showing you how to create a simple yet great looking text in Photoshop.
The end result.
So the first the you're going to do is, of course, create a new image.
Set the dimensions however big, or small, you wish.
Make the first layer black, white, or anything in between.
Next, select the text tool and type a word onto your newly made background.
Once you've made the text, it's time for effects.
The effects.
Apply a gradient, similar to the following.
Apply a stroke, as shown below.
Next, left click the T icon of your text layer while holding Ctrl.
This will highlight the outline of your text. Select your square Marquee tool and, while hold alt, select the bottom half of your selection. This will remove it and result in half of your text being selected.
Select the gradient tool and use white as the main colour. Make sure it's set to white to transparent.
On a new layer, click just below your selection and, while holding shift, drag the gradient tool to the top of your selection. To get the below result, you can experiment with the placement of your gradient or change the opacity of your layer at the top right of the layers panel.
Next comes the cool bit. The mirror effect :D
Select all your layers by holding Ctrl, right click on them and click 'Duplicate Layer.'
This will do exactly that. Duplicate them all. Now while they're still selected, right click again and select 'Merge Layers,'
Press Ctrl+T, right click on the now selected image and click 'Flip Vertically.'
While holding Ctrl, repeatedly hit the down arrow key to move the duplicate text down.
Once you have the above result, you will need to create a mask with the mask icon, shown below.
Select the mask that you just made. It will be a white box that appears right next to your layer.
Select the gradient tool, and make sure the colour's set to black to transparent.
Then, just like you did with the first gradient layer, hold shift, click and drag the gradient tool upwards.
This will act like an eraser, removing part of the text gradient style.
Experiment with the placement of the gradient to get your desired mirror effect. If you mess up at all, hit Ctrl+Z for a quick undo.
And there you have it, a simple but sweet looking text.
